Site Status

Version 2.0 (14 June 2006)

• New preference for volume control.
• New preference to disable sounds completely.
• New preference to indicate number of failed attempts before full alert.
• New preference to control the number of minutes between "pings" of the sites. This change requires that you must have the latest version of the Yahoo! Widget Engine to run Site Status.
• Modified it so it wouldn't show the edit and delete icons when it updates.
• Modified order of array structure so when array.sort is called it is the title that is sorted rather than the URL as had been happening in earlier versions. Sorry, because of this you will need to reenter all of the sites you were watching with the previous version.

This Widget fetches specified URLs and provides visual feedback on the Web site's status--running or not.

If you're here, the chances are good that you've already installed Site Status on your computer. Thank you! Unless you want to keep tabs on my site (and Konfabulator's), you might want to either delete it from the list of sites, or use its entry in the preferences as a starting point for checking on your own site.

Known Issues

Missing Action Buttons
Upon returning from the preferences the action buttons cannot be activated. The current workaround is to click on another widget or active program window, then return to Site Status.

Does not work with SSL sites
I have not been able to replicate this problem. You should be able to keep tabs on SSL secured sites (you must enter the https:// protocol before the URL). The only problems you may encounter could be due to an error message that is not being cleared or acknowledged because of a problem with the certificate like it expired, the wrong name on the certificate, or an unknown issuing certificate authority.

Requested Features for Next Version

• Correct problem with the edit buttons not being available after editing an entry.
• Have the lights turn from green to yellow when refreshing.
• A way to resize the width of the widget.

Updated to version 1.1.1 (17 September 2005)

Version 1.1.1 fixes a problem of false positive responses on Windows that resulted with the 2.1.1 upgrade of Konfabulator. This new version also redraws each site after that site is checked rather than waiting until all the sites have been checked.
